Please make nominations for the club officer election - May 27th, 2012

Fellow CCTMC members,

We will have the club officer election on June 14th.  I am writing to invite you to make nominations for the election or run for the officer roles yourself. We have the following officer roles to elect and the elected officers will serve for six months, from July 2012 to December 2012:

1.  President, currently held by me

2.  Vice President Education (VPE), currently held by Jeri

3.  Vice President Membership (VPM), currently held by Frieda

4.  Vice President Public Relations (VPPR), currently held by Waves

5.  Treasurer, currently held by Cathy Li

6.  Secretary, currently held by Ann

7.  Sergeant at Arms (SAA), currently held by Sue

8.  Scheduler, currently held by Angela

9.  Librarian, currently held by Ann

Please note that there will be no longer webmaster role in the club.   The current club officer team have decided to merge this role with VPPR and web administration is now part of the responsibility of VPPR.

Please start nominate yourself or other members for these officer roles.  To better understand these officer roles you may speak to the current officers for advice and information.  You may also click this link to get a general idea: http://www.toastmasters.org/Members/OfficerResources/ClubOfficerResources/ClubOfficerRoles.aspx

Here I would like to say a few things about club officer roles:

1.  Minimal workload.  No matter which officer role it is, the work of club officers is mainly oral and email communication.  You don't have to commit a lot of time to be a club officer.

2. You don't have to be an experienced member or excellent speaker to be a club officer.  In Toastmasters clubs we all learn by doing, and it's perfectly OK to make some mistakes.  Experience is not the most important thing.  A desire to learn and help the club is more important.  After you get elected, you will receive some training and help from the current officers and other Toastmasters leaders.  So don't worry about experience.  If you are a new member, you can still run for any officer roles.

3. If you are a club officer, you are in a better position to contribute ideas and help making the club better.  You are involved in club management and can contribute useful and creative ideas more easily.  You may even implement those ideas and make things happen.  Isn't this cool?

4. As officers you will have assistants to help you.   Assistants will be appointed for you and you will not be working alone.  You will get plenty of help.

Last but not the least, the club need people to be officers. The club will not run well without dedicated members and leaders.  We have all enjoyed the benefits of CCTMC and we should all be giving back.  Since the founding of CCTMC in 2005, dozens of members have contributed their time and effort to help make the club better by serving different officer roles.  The club needs you.

I look forward to hearing from you on your nominations.  If you are interested in running for any offices or have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.  I will be very happy to answer them.
